Biollante

Dr. Shiragami, an authority on genetic engineering, creates a bio-monster by combining cells from Godzilla, a rose and Dr. Shiragami’s deceased daughter Erika. Dr. Shiragami names it Biollante after a plant spirit from Norse mythology. It originally appears at Lake Ashi in its Rose Monster form and is defeated by Godzilla. During the battle, Godzilla’s radiated heatwave triggers a mutation in Biollante’s cells that eventually leads to the creature’s regeneration into a larger and more predatory second form. With its crushing jaws, toxic sap and countless tentacle-like, crawling roots, Biollante could even surpass Godzilla in size and power.
