Manda

The Mu Empire was an ancient civilization that disappeared into the Pacific after a massive earthquake. Manda is a gigantic sea serpent that resembles the dragons of Asian legends with its four horned head and whiskered face. It is the Guardian of the Mu Empire. When it attacks the Gotengo, Manda wraps its serpent-like body tightly around the ship to crush it. But using a high-voltage counterattack, the ship breaks away and freezes Manda with its Zero Cannon.

In DESTROY ALL MONSTERS (1968), under the control of the Kilaaks, Manda is sent to attack London. Later, along with Mothra, Godzilla and Rodan, it lands in Tokyo. Wrapping its body around the monorail, it causes widespread destruction in the city. This incarnation of Manda lacks horns or a whiskered face, so it looks more like a giant snake than a mythical dragon.

Manda attacks the new Gotengo in the Sea of Normandy, but is disturbed by an underwater volcanic eruption. Using the maser weapon, the Gotengo freezes Manda and then finishes it off with the ship’s mighty drill.
