Varan

Descended from a prehistoric reptile, the monster Varan walks on all fours and has spikes on its face, head and back. It is worshipped as a living god by the natives of a small village in the mountains of the Tohoku region of Japan. When it is discovered by a group of researchers exploring the area, Varan goes on a rampage and destroys a native village. Later, Varan reveals its ability to fly by using the membranes between its arms and legs to glide through the air. Emerging from the sea, it attacks Haneda Airport in Tokyo. The military finally devises a successful strategy to trick the monster into eating explosives, and it is finally defeated.
